Thrifting has always been one of my guilty pleasures. After moving all the way out of the major city, I went from 10 visits a year to 1 visit a year. There’s something so calming about stepping into a thrift store with no rush, no pressure, just the hope of finding that one perfect treasure. Unfortunately, the few times I’ve gone recently were with the baby, and he’s not a big fan of the stroller lol Thrifting isn’t so fun when you also have to carry a wiggly 23lbs baby. In any case, thrifting remains one of my favorite things to do whenever I do get the chance. I was in Montreal last month and picked up a few things. Today, I want to share some of the cottagecore things I always keep an eye out for.
Cottagecore Thrifting: The Items I Always Keep an Eye Out For

Over the years, I’ve noticed that certain items always catch my eye, especially when I’m in a cottagecore mood. Whether you’re decorating your home, styling a cozy nook, or looking for props for your next photo shoot, these are the pieces worth pausing for.
Kitchen & Tabletop Treasures
The kitchen is the heart of cottagecore, so I always start here.
- Enamelware in soft pastels or simple whites
- Vintage stoneware mixing bowls with earthy tones
- Floral china, teacups, mismatched plates anything that feels like it came from a grandmother’s cupboard
- Copper pots and molds, even if they’re a little patinated
- Wooden utensils and cutting boards with character
- Cast iron pans in good condition
- Thick glass or embossed jars for pantry storage
These always add warmth to shelves, pantries, and flatlays.
Cozy Linens & Textiles
I love sifting through the fabric bins. You never know what you’ll uncover.
- Hand-embroidered tablecloths and napkins
- Crochet doilies and lace runners
- Patchwork quilts (even damaged ones—they make great throws or craft material)
- Wool blankets with simple stripes
- Linen aprons or pinafore-style pieces
They instantly soften any space.

Cottagecore Décor
Small details make a significant impact.
- Botanical prints and pressed flower frames
- Woven baskets of all shapes and sizes
- Ceramic pitchers and jugs for flowers
- Brass or wooden candlesticks
- Old books with textured covers (especially greens, browns, creams)
- Framed cross-stitch or embroidery pieces
These pieces add that lived-in, story-filled charm.
Furniture & Storage Finds
If you have room in your cart (and your car), check the larger sections.
- Small wooden stools, benches, or farmhouse chairs
- Rattan or wicker shelves
- Wooden crates, spice racks, and bread boxes
- Primitive, rustic, or worn-in side tables
Pieces like these transform a space with minimal effort.

Garden-Friendly Finds
Because cottagecore is just as much about the outdoors.
- Terracotta pots (especially the naturally weathered ones)
- Metal watering cans
- Harvest baskets
- Enamel buckets for planters
- Vintage tins for seed storage
Perfect for anyone who loves gardening or capturing their garden’s beauty through photography.
Seasonal & Miscellaneous Gems
The fun part is finding things you didn’t even know you needed.
- Wool sweaters for décor or DIY projects
- Vintage floral tins
- Handmade pottery
- Gingham fabric or floral yardage for sewing

The magic of thrifting is that no two trips are the same. However, if you’re aiming for cottagecore, this list provides a reliable starting point. The next time you walk down those aisles, take a moment, slow down, and let the treasures find you.

BTW, I think you’re doing great on the whole “one blog post a day” challenge. Eh, it just seems like a lot of pressure to me, though.
🙂
Honestly? I’m running out of ideas and most days I just want to stop. lol I don’t even know if anyone is out there reading these (you are though so that means a lot lol).
