This week has been a whirlwind. I’ve been on a mission to declutter and somehow that turned into a full-on marathon of sorting, tossing, organizing, and asking myself why on earth we own so many tiny, tiny things. If you’ve ever cleaned a kid’s room, you know exactly what I mean. You move one pile and suddenly five more appear out of nowhere.
Making Space for What Matters

But even in the chaos, there’s something grounding about it. I started with the boys’ room and honestly, I’m still proud of myself for getting through that. Little socks, random LEGO pieces, mystery toys… I powered through. Now I’m deep into my daughter’s room, and it feels like a whole new level of “why do we have this?” mixed with “wow, she really loves keeping memories.” It’s overwhelming, yes, but it’s also reminding me of how much our home holds the noise, the stories, the messes, the phases they grow out of way too fast.
All of this while keeping everyone fed and making sure the baby is happy and taken care of. There were moments I wanted to quit, moments I questioned why I even started, and moments where I just sat on the floor surrounded by stuff thinking, “Okay… one thing at a time.”
And that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. One thing at a time. One drawer. One toy bin. One pile of clothes. Progress doesn’t always look pretty, and some days it looks like you’ve made things worse before they get better. But I’m grateful for the little wins the bags that went out, the clearer corners, the feeling of fresh space slowly finding its way back into our home.

More than anything, I’m grateful for the reminder that making space isn’t just about things. It’s about clearing mental space, emotional space, and physical space for whatever new season we’re stepping into as a family. It’s messy and tiring, but it’s also full of meaning.
So here’s to another Grateful Sunday. To the overwhelm, the progress, the kids who always need a snack right when you sit down, and the tiny pockets of clarity that show up when you least expect them. I’m grateful for this home, this family, and even the chaos because it means we’re growing.
And now, back to decluttering… a few more rooms to go.
Cheers to day 16 of NaBloPoMo!
