Last Thursday, I had the chance to attend a super fun event hosted by Nintendo Canada and PR-firm Julie Gagnon Communications at the beautiful Hôtel Bonaventure in Montréal. Nintendo kicked off the holiday season early with a celebration where families got to try out some of the most popular games on the brand-new Nintendo Switch 2 system.
Grateful Sunday: A Fun Day with Nintendo Canada

I brought my three youngest along, and we had such a blast exploring all the game stations, testing out the new console, and seeing the joy on everyone’s faces as they played together. There’s just something special about watching your kids laugh, cheer each other on, and share those “did you see that?!” moments.
It was one of those afternoons that reminded me how grateful I am for opportunities like this, to spend time together, make memories, and experience new things as a family.
Huge thanks to Nintendo Canada and Julie Gagnon Communications for the invite and for creating such a fun, family-friendly event. We left with smiles, a few new favorite games, and lots of excitement for the holidays ahead!
A few game suggestions for the Switch 2
If your family is thinking of picking up some games for the new console, here are four picks we’re excited about:
- Donkey Kong Bananza: A brand-new 3D platformer starring Donkey Kong and Pauline. Explore underground worlds, smash through walls, and team up in co-op. My 5-year-old loved that one!
- Nintendo Switch Sports: A fun, family-friendly sports game that gets everyone moving. Bowling, tennis, soccer and more. Older version works on Switch 2 (check compatibility), but it’s perfect for multiplayer fun. (Nintendo Switch Sports) My daughter added this one to her Christmas list lol
- Mario Kart World: High-energy racing at its best. Open world karting, multiplayer chaos, perfect for big sibling/family game nights. Both kids loved this one.
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land 2 Edition: Bright, joyful, and perfect for younger kids (and parents who want something light). This one was my fave. I didn’t get to play it for long, but it was fun!
Which game is your family loving right now, or what are you all hoping to play together this holiday season? Drop your picks below, maybe we’ll discover some new favourites together!
Here’s to more playful afternoons, shared smiles, and memorable moments. Wishing you a peaceful and happy Sunday!
