September is always a busy (and special!) month for our family. My husband’s birthday is on the 28th and my daughter’s is on the 29th, which means we get two full days of cake, love, and celebrating back-to-back! This year, we did something a little different: we packed up the kids and headed out to a friend’s cabin for a weekend getaway. This was my first time at a cabin, and my kids’ first time too. Let me tell you, it was the perfect way to celebrate.
Celebrating Two Birthdays Back-to-Back at the Cabin

A Cozy Cabin Birthday Getaway
We arrived at the cabin and were immediately greeted by fresh air, quiet surroundings, and that rustic charm that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a slower, calmer world. The kids were so excited to explore. They ran around checking out everything, and I just soaked in the moment. It’s not every day we get to escape the city and just be together without distractions.
We kept things simple: good food, board games, and lots of outdoor time. The kids loved playing near the water, exploring the massive cabin, and using the hot tub! While hubby and his friends played some Magic and Dungeons & Dragons (nerdy as heck, if you ask me, but they had fun).
We made sausages on the BBQ and had some of my homemade potato salad for lunch. In the evening, we had hamburgers with homemade macaroni salad (both were made the night prior), so I did zero cooking while at the cabin!

Sunday was my hubby’s birthday. We started the day with a big breakfast (that I didn’t have to cook lol), followed by a cake/pie from Rockaberry.
The 29th was my daughter’s birthday, but we are planning her party for the upcoming weekend.
Family Memories That Last
What I loved most about this weekend was how unhurried everything felt. It was the perfect way to celebrate two special people in our lives.
As we packed up to head home on Sunday, I couldn’t help but feel grateful. Grateful for my family, grateful for these birthdays that remind us to celebrate each other, and grateful for the chance to step away from our usual routine and make memories in a new place.

Have you ever celebrated a birthday (or two!) away from home? I’d love to know how you make birthdays special in your family.
